Vacuum technology is a vital field that is utilized in a wide variety of industries, including but not limited to: semiconductor device fabrication, food processing, space simulation, and pharmaceuticals manufacturing. In this lecture/lab-based workshop, you will enjoy the opportunity to learn from experts about vacuum technology and how having practical experience in this area can enrich your career.
Participants will acquire knowledge on the physics of vacuum equipment, the types of pumps, gauges and containers used in these systems, and an understanding of material behavior under vacuum. In addition, students will gain supervised hands-on applied experience with vacuum systems.
At the end of the course, students will receive a Certificate of Completion.
Students interested in this workshop should be comfortable with algebraic mathematics and having a general knowledge of electronics, manufacturing processes, and workplace safety protocol is desired.
Dates and Times:
This workshop runs from Tuesday, 3/19/24 through Thursday, 5/2/24.
It is a total of 7 weeks / 35 hours, which includes 2 hours of weekly lectures and 3 hours of weekly laboratory time to contextualize the experience.
Lecture: 5:30-7:30 on Tuesdays
Lab: 5:30-8:30 on Thursdays
