Fund Raising 101

« back to classes page
Class is appropriate for both the organizations who need to use volunteer fundraising, individuals who are starting up businesses that might rely on fundraising and also the volunteers who want to understand the process better, and not be afraid to ask for gifts in support of a cause that they love.

Many small and mid-sized charities rely on volunteers to do their fundraising for them.  Whether through participatory fundraising, like walk-a-thons and candy bar sales, or through major donor groups or small volunteer-hosted events, many non-profits generate a significant portion of their revenue thanks to the efforts of a dedicated group of volunteers.

Using volunteer fundraising is vastly different than using paid staff or consultants. Volunteers have tons of enthusiasm, and may have a wide network from which to draw, but they may not have as much understanding of fundraising techniques as a paid staff, and you may generally have less control over volunteers than employees. It is difficult at times to help volunteers lose their fear of asking for gifts. Come learn how to make this process smooth for everyone!  $20 materials fee payable to the instructor at class.
