Horticulture 203: Adaptive Nursery And Garden Center Practices, an 8 week horticulture and vocational training class, 2 hours each on Tuesday and Thursdays. Students will demonstrate basic skills used in plant identification, nursery and garden center operations, plant propagation, and sales presentation.
Course Content: Care and identification of landscape and indoor plants, pruning trees and shrubs, recognizing and treating plant problems, plant propagation, greenhouse operations, and basic landscape maintenance.
Course Advisory: Although this course is open to all, it is primarily organized for students with mild to moderate learning difficulties. It is a horticulture and vocational training class adapted for students with special learning needs. Students will learn basic horticulture skills in a garden, nursery and landscape setting. Safety will be incorporated throughout the course.
Course Materials: The New Sunset Western Garden Book, ninth edition (2012). New or used copies. This book will be used for all adaptive horticulture classes in the series.
