*The state maintains strict rules around how much education you must have, so you cannot  miss a day of class and qualify to take the state exam. Therefore, do not enroll, unless you are sure you can attend all 8 weeks of Saturday classes, and complete an EXTERNSHIP of 5 working days during the day, during the work week, in a city as far away as San Francisco or San Jose.

Phlebotomy Technicians are in demand as one of the fastest growing occupations in healthcare. Launch your career as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1. Collect blood samples from patients in a hospital, clinical laboratory, medical office, or clinical setting. Through lectures and hands-on training, learn what you need to know about the circulatory system, venipuncture technique, specimen collection, risk factors, complications, and quality assurance. This course provides a complete learning experience—with 48 hours of classroom instruction and a 40-hour hands-on externship. The course is also designed to prepare you to take the National Certification exam to become a California Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT1).

On the first day, you will need to bring:   your ID (any governmentt or school ID is fine) and your High School Diploma or GED, and come dressed in your scrubs with appropriate shoes.

A certificate of completion is awarded upon successful completion of the course. If you complete the course and pass the licensure exam, you will be a licensed Phlebotomist.

You must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent to enroll.
