Their functions are too rigid to deliver the experience non-credit learners expect and non-credit administrators need to manage their offerings. Any CE unit can tell you how difficult it is to do so much as offer a non-semestered program with a standard SIS: The framework for main campus technologies can’t effectively support even minor deviations without requiring several patch ups. Problems like this abound when using a traditional SIS for non-traditional education.
